Monsters

I’m captivated by stories of mythical beings. Characters like vampires and genies wield fantastic power, but that power comes with strict limitations. Vampires live forever, yet they're cursed to crave human blood and hide in shadows. Genies possess near-unlimited power to grant wishes, yet they must obey a human master who might trap them inside a tiny lamp.

To me, these characters embody the pitfalls of a solitary quest for mastery. True expertise demands discipline and great sacrifice, but in the pursuit of arcane knowledge or exceptional talent, it’s easy to lose touch with simple humanity. Any deep obsession can lead us down this path.

There’s a reason Halloween falls in autumn. Originally, it was a time to scare away spirits during the uncertain shift from harvest to winter. Unlike the monsters in our stories, we still have the chance to reconnect with our humanity and find our way home.
